Late 1970's, Tubb's Island (or sometimes Sheba Island), West Lake, near Outlet Beach, Sandbanks Provincial Park and Picton, Ontario.

Looks like fall, and not too many people around the campground (where we had a semi-permanent, lakefront trailer site - out of sight just to the right), so my brother and I built this death trap for fun. We went from left to right and did get the ramps further apart than this, but it was nothing compared to what's done on a regular basis these days. I once got too enthusiastic and completely overshot the landing ramp. That's my bike (which both of us used for jumping - rather than the folding bike on the right!), a 24" wheeled ex-banana seat, ape hanger bike that my Dad converted to this closest-thing-to-a-mountain-bike-at-the-time for me: spread the rear triangle to fit the 2" redline tire, put on a regular saddle and swept back bars. Ahhh, summers...
